The Columbia River Fishing Guide For Salmon Steelhead And Sturgeon

Here at The Columbia River Fishing Guide and Outfitters we Love catching Steelhead. These hot headed chrome bright beauties will keep you jumping with excitement with all their tailwalking and fast action. We target the Columbia, Cowlitz and Lewis Rivers for Steelhead fishing. We have a Summer run steelhead (June-early September) and a Winter run steelhead (November-February).

On most of our Steelhead guide trips our weapon of choice is  sidedrifting (boondoging) light gear and small baits. There is nothing like hooking into a bright Steelhead on light gear. They are all over the place jumping from one side of the boat to the other!! These are the Acrobats of the Pacific Northwest. We catch lots of Steelhead. It is normal to have a dozen hookups a day or more. The Steelhead average 8-12 pounds but it is not uncommon to get one in the 20 pound range!!!
