Fishing Report & Update
12-20-2011 |
| Hi Guys
the Winter Kings and Steelhead are here with the
Springers right around the corner!!! We will
also start Sturgeon fishing after the first of
the year. The Kings this year have been
unbelievable with many Big fish in the (30+ lb)
range. We will be catching them through the end
of the month. Steelhead fishing is off to a
great start as well with fish averaging in the
(10lb) range. There is nothing like hooking into
one of theses chromers to warm up a cool winter
day. We will have Steelhead around till the end
of February. Side-drifting with light gear and
bait will be the technique of choice to catch
these silver bullets. A far as the Sturgeon we
will be targeting the above Bonneville dam and
Willamette fishery's for them. Sturgeon fishing
is lots of fun with lots of catching. It is
common to land 30-50 fish in a day.
Now for what we have all been
waiting for is the forecast for 2012 "It is a
good good Spring Chinook return for sure," said
Cindy LeFleur, the Columbia River Policy
Coordinator for state Fish and Wildlife. The
Columbia River spring Chinook forecast is
314,200 compared to a forecast last year of
198,400 and an actual return of 221,200. It
would be the fourth largest dating back to 1938,
with the largest return of 440,300 happening in
2001.The Columbia River spring Chinook are
prized by anglers for their tasty, Omega-3
laced, red-orange-colored meat, which is similar
to fish from Alaska's Copper River. Looking
further ahead the Columbia Summer Chinook
forecast also looks very promising with a
forecast of 91,200 in 2012 (91,100 was 2011
forecast; 80,600 was actual return), and the
sockeye return of 462,000 (161,900 was 2010
forecast; 187,300 was actual return). The 2012
adult Spring Chinook returns for the Cowlitz,
Kalama and Lewis rivers look slightly better
than last year with a total forecast of 12,100
compared to 10,600 forecast in 2011 and an
actual return of 6,300. |
 |
 |
 |
 |
 |
The Willamette River
Spring Chinook run is predicted at 83,400 adults in
2012, compared with a prediction for 2011 of 104,100.
This year's actual return was 80,254. Anglers can expect
unrestricted fishing on the Willamette seven days a week
with a bag limit of two fin-clipped Chinook per day.
With these kind of
numbers it is going to be another amazing year of
fishing!! Be sure to book early to get prime spots with
one of our boats for a trip of a lifetime. These dates
will be gone shortly after the first of the year.
Also we have gift certificates available your Christmas
gifts. We can email them directly to you to print out
and give to that sportsman of the family. I would like
to thanks everyone that made it out with us this year
and look forward to Hooking up again in 2012. Feel free
to give me a call to go over any details. We hope and
pray that 2012 will be a great year for you, your
family's, and businesses. Merry Christmas and a Happy
New Year!!
Hi guys I just wanted to
get a quick note out and let you know what is going on.
Kings Kings Kings is all I can say.. We are catching
Kings and lots of them!!! The best part is that we will
continue to catch them till the end of the year. There
are a few different fishery's to fill your tag. The
Winter Kings will heat up in late Nov and go through
late Dec. The "B" run Coho have started to make a show
as well and will be into full swing by early next week.
We will start fishing for Winter Steelhead the first
part of Dec for you guys looking for some fresh
Steelhead for the Holiday season. This is a great
opportunity to get your friends, family ,or business
associates out for an awesome day of fishing!!! Also if
you are looking at booking any Spring Salmon dates for
next year I would look at them soon. Since I am about
half booked already. We will have availability in the
other boats as well but if you want to fish with me be
sure to book asap. Come join the fun and we look forward
to fishing and talking to you soon. Feel free to give me
a call to go over any questions or details.
Summer Steelhead Monster Fall Kings
Hi
Guys-
Wow! What a year it has been so far! It is hard to
believe that the 4th of July has come and gone and we
are into full swing with Summer Steelhead fishing and
the massive record run of fall Kings are just a few
weeks away. So as you can see, from the Steelhead
photos below, we have been putting the Lamiglas XMG50
side-drifting rods to the test. We started using these
last fall and what an amazing rod! Not only the sheer
power and strength but with the new carbon fiber handle
also makes for greater sensitivity and easy clean up.
Lets not forget, they look cool as well! Side-drifting
is a very effective and easy way to catch steelhead. We
are using small baits of Salmon eggs and prawns with
light lead to produce these awesome acrobats of the
Northwest. The fish are on the larger side again this
year, averaging on the 8 to 10 pound range. There has
been a lot of big fish around as well, I would say 30%
of the fish have been in the 15 to 17 pound range!!
Side-drifting is very active and fun fishing covering
lots of river. If you have done it before or not, no
big deal, we will take the time to get you trained up
and by mid-morning you will be a pro! Also, we have a
large push of B-run Steelhead moving up the Columbia
right now and we will be targeting these fish as well.
This is an anchored fishery where it is more laid back
but a very effective technique for catching these fish.
What better way to enjoy a great summer day with family,
friends, or business associates?!

For the Fall
Kings, we will be pulling out our new Lamiglas
Kenai Kwik rods and our fresh cut plug herring
and be heading to the lower Columbia river to
the infamous 'Buoy 10' fishery! These rods have
been amazing, I have never used any rod with
such durability and strength! I would have to
say, they almost seem unbreakable! Anyone
looking for a perfect all around Columbia river
fishing rod, this is the one! We prefer to use
the 10 1/2 foot model. A predicted run of over
800,000 KINGS(That is like twice the average!)
will start entering the Columbia river any day.
The Columbia opens August 1st to retain Salmon.
We have high expectations of going Catching this
fall!! We will be fishing the Buoy 10 fishery
starting in early August thru the end of the
month. With such a massive run of fish and
higher, cooler water conditions, I will expect
to move upstream to the Longview/Woodland area
of the Columbia to continue targeting these
hawgs most likely earlier than usual. Your
average Fall King is 20 to 25 pounds! It's
common to get a 30+. And if you are looking for
a fish of a lifetime, our Fall fishery is the
time to target a 40 to 50 pounder!! We caught 5
two years ago over 50!! The photo below of a 56
pound Lewis river King caught on 15 pound
test!! Mid-September, we will move into the
Cowlitz and Lewis Rivers to continue our massive
harvest of these chrome bright Kings and Coho
salmon. We will be back-bouncing and
side-drifting Salmon eggs primarily to target
these fish. This will be a go-to fishery for
sheer numbers of fish. Some of these areas will
be open for the first time in 4 years! This
will be like the good ole days! And a perfect
place to target those 40+ pound hawgs!! We will
be fishing for Fall Kings and Coho till Late
November. |

Happy Spring fishing from Erik's
World Class Fishing Adventures!!
Spring has sprung here in the Pacific Northwest!
Along with the rainy weather and blooming flowers,
Springers have made their way back to our rivers! If you
have friend-ed me on Facebook or Twitter, you have
already seen hundreds of these beauties posted on my
pages! We would love to get you out on one of our boats
to join in on the action!
Springer season is into full swing. The water
conditions are at the best they have been all year and
will continue to get better as the season progresses!
The Columbia River is closed for now, but it may reopen
again in May. Till then, we will be fishing Willamette,
Lewis, Wind and Cowlitz Rivers for Spring Salmon until
late May. This will take us right into a near record run
of Summer King Salmon for the Columbia River starting in
June! Last week of May and the 1st week of June heads up
our Over-sized Sturgeon season! These 9-12 foot mammoths
are super great fighters and amazing to behold after a
long exhausting battle!! Keeper Sturgeon are due late
June in the estuary of the Columbia River out of Astoria
OR. We still have some availability for Summer Steelhead
trips in the Columbia, Lewis and Cowlitz rivers for
mid-June to mid-August. This leads us to the famous Buoy
10 fishery where there is a forecasted near 800,000
Kings!!! Also, to top it off, the Lewis will have
retention of Kings this fall as well!!! This will be an
amazing fishery. LOTS OF BIG KINGS WITH TWO FISH A
DAY!!!! Book now to get these dates! They will be going
fast! This will be like the good old days on the Lewis!!
From here on out we will have some awesome for the rest
of the year.
Over the past couple of months we have made some of
changes to improve your booking and fishing experience.
My wife Heidi is now going to be handling the
'administrative' side of the business, which will free
me up to put more attention and detail into the fishing!
She will be available to take your calls, payments and
emails when I am out on the river. As well as PayPal, we
now can take regular credit card payments over the phone
though a standard merchant account. Now, when you
'follow' me on Twitter or 'friend' me on Facebook, you
can see each days' action as it unfolds in the boat
moment by moment! |
Hi Guys
Springers (Spring King
Salmon) are right around the corner in the Columbia and
we are expecting a near record run in the Willamette.
Several reports have a few early fish being caught and
five year old fish (??SIZE?? ex/ 15-30lb) will make up
the majority of the run. These Salmon are the best
eating Chinooks in the country which make them one of
the ultimate prizes of the Northwest! Dates are limited
and slots are filling by the hour so be sure to contact
us to hold your date soon.
Need a date? Funny enough, with Valentines Day around
the corner I wanted to mention that we get quite a few
couples in the boat over the season so if you're looking
for something different for you and your special
someone, come enjoy a beautiful day on the water and the
excitement a fish on the line.
Also, to make it easier for you to stay up to date on
the incredible fishing, we have set up a Facebook page
for you to follow for the most up to date info and
photos, and maybe you'll even see yourself! Click the
link below and become part of crew. Be sure to add me as
a friend and click the "like" button on the "Erik's

with you this season.

Hi Guys
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!! What a great time
of year. Not only is there great holidays, presents, and
awesome food...it is prime time for Winter Steelhead. As
you can see in the photo below, no one is too young to
catch one of these chrome beauties. Gunnar, 4 years old,
just caught his first Steelhead 2 days ago all by
himself! Way to go Gunnar!! If anyone is looking for
something to do over the Christmas vacation, this is a
great way to get out with family and friends, for some
awesome Steelhead fishing. We will continue for these
though January. Springers!! Yes, I said it, Springers! We Specialize in
Springers. I would have to say this is my favorite fish
to catch!!! They just came out with the numbers for the
lower Columbia. The prediction is approx. 200,000 for
upper Columbia River Salmon. Which is a good healthy
run. The Willamette has an awesome run of 110,000
forecasted, which will be amazing! Spring Salmon fishing
is what northwest fishermen live for. There is no fish
like a Spring Chinook Salmon as for it's shear
awesomeness and it is some of the best table-fare in the
world. This is a limited season starting in late March
going into early May. So be sure to book your dates now
to ensure a prime date and a fishing trip of a
lifetime!!
For any last minute Christmas gifts, we do have gift
certificates available as well. Again I would like to
thank everyone for all their business and for new and
old friendships through 2010, and look forward to many
more in 2011. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. I look
forward to fishing and talking with you soon. Feel free
to contact me to answer any questions or go over any
details to help in planning your trips. |

Hi Guys
First I would like to say Happy Thanksgiving. My family
and I are very Thankful for all the business and
friendships you have given us again this year. We could
not do it with out you guys. Thanks so much. I am just
amazed at how many customers we have now (over 3000) and
that they are coming from all over the country and
world. With the business continuing to grow rapidly and
great fish runs we look forward to fulfilling all your
fishing needs for the rest of this year and into 2011.
I just wanted to get you up to date for a few things
that have changed. First the Sturgeon fishing has been
so awesome that we have already filled the rest of the
quota for 2010. It will not reopen to catch and keep
till January 1st. With catching this good now and no
pressure on the sturgeon for the next 5 weeks it will be
lights out right when it opens on the 1st!!! Sturgeon
fishing is open to catch and keep on Thursdays, Fridays,
and Saturdays. Dates are limited so be sure to book now
for open dates. |
 |
|
Here are a some nice
Steelhead that we will be catching!! |
 |
 |
|
|
With Thanksgiving here this is the official kick off for
winter Steelhead. Higher water flows again this year
will make for perfect conditions to target these winter
chromers on light tackle and gear. What a great way to
warm up on a winter day or spend the holiday time off
with friends or family. Mid Dec - Jan will be the peak
time to go for the early run fish. These dates are
filling fast as well so be sure to get booked now for
open dates. Feel free to contact me for details and
options. I look forward to fishing and talking to you
soon.
Also don't forget we can do gift certificates for the
sportsman or woman in the family for Christmas gifts.

Hi Guys!
It is time for the latest fishing report. With fall into full
swing, there are several fishing opportunities for Salmon,
Sturgeon and lets not forget about the Winter Steelhead right
around the corner! Firstly, for King Salmon your best
opportunity will be fishing on the beautiful Oregon coast in the
mostly protected waters of Tillamook Bay. We prefer to troll
herring and spinners. This is a shallow water fishery, like 10
feet of water of less. So when you hook into one of these 30+
pound Kings, there is no where for the fish to go but out. We
had a fish last week that took out over 200 feet of line on the
line counter. Then within seconds, it charged straight back to
the boat and then back out for another 100 foot run! WOW!! The
Kings in Tillamook Bay are truly an amazing and a different kind
of fish! This is a fishery where the size, quality and
experience are like no other! With the heavy rains we have had,
there is great opportunity for catching these fish that have
moved from the bay into the small intimate tributaries with
bobber, eggs and back bouncing bait or kwikfish. This will be
our target area for catching and keeping Kings over the next few
weeks. Now, if you are looking for catch and release lots of
Kings and keeper Coho, we will be fishing Southwest Washington
tributaries for these. The Coho have been averaging in the 12 to
15 pound range, many still with sea lice. We are catching these
fish casting plugs and back bouncing eggs. These fish will be
around for another few weeks as well. Then after Thanksgiving,
it will be the kick off for Winter Steelhead. By the looks of
the forecast and the higher water levels like last year, it will
be another awesome Winter Steelhead season! We will be targeting
these fish December and January. We will be side drifting with
light tackle and bait. I expect limits or near limits of fish
daily.
October 1st was the re-opener for
keeper Sturgeon in the lower Columbia. We will be fishing from
Bonneville Dam down to the Kalama area. Also, the Willamette
opens this Thursday Nov. 4th to retain keeper Sturgeon as well.
This is a great fall and winter fishery since a lot of the
Sturgeon will migrate temporarily into the lower 10 miles of the
Willamette due to water temperature. The rains and muddy water
always seem to get the Sturgeon into a feeding frenzy, so it
should be good there starting this week. Sturgeon fishing for
retention is only open 3 days a week: Thursdays, Fridays and
Saturdays. This is a fishery with lots of action, it is common
to catch 30+ fish a day, with keepers as well! Sturgeon fishing
is a little less technical and we will be anchored in our
favorite hot spots, fishing on the bottom with various baits:
smelt, squid, sandshrimp...
Be sure to contact us back for further details, or to book a
prime date since they go fast! This winter we are also offering
what we call our 'value trip', it is only a 5 hour trip with a 4
person minimum, please contact for details. I look forward to
talking and fishing with you soon, I hope the rest of your week
is great!! For those of you that Facebook you can follow ,check
daily reports and comments by going to Columbiariver Fishing at

Hi, guys!
It's time for the latest and greatest in the Northwest fishing-world: The B-run Coho are moving into full swing on the Cowlitz and Lewis rivers! The fish have been been chrome bright with sea-lice on many of them, and averaging about 12lbs. We have been casting plugs, spinners, and side-drifting for these Chromers. We're still catching lots of nice Kings as well! As you can see, from the photos below of the nice 30-35 pounders, these fish are in great shape! The fishery at Tillamook Bay is looking better now than it has in the last 2 years, and there's an opportunity to fish for the famous 30-40 pound hawgs, fresh from the ocean! We'll continue fishing for these until mid-November. Columbia River sturgeon re-opened October 1st, and is off to a great start. We'll be fishing the Columbia and Willamette rivers Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, to retain the sturgeon that we catch. This is a fishery where it's common to catch 30+ fish in a single day, and some nice keepers as well! Lots of action; great fun! Fell free to contact me to book a trip or to go over any details. I look forward to fishing and talking to you soon.

The Springer's are
here now!!!! The
guys that know what
they are doing have
been getting 1-3
fish per day over
the last week. That
is awesome for this
time of year. It
does not surprise me
since we had an
original run of
470,000 predicted
and since last weeks
meeting it has been
upgraded to 559,900
fish with a 40%
buffer. This is
going to be the best
Spring Salmon run
ever!!!!!! I would
have to say that in
7-10 days it should
be game on gone for
the rest of the
season. Most of the
fish this year are
the bigger 4 and 5
year old fish as
well. We are
targeting these fish
now and till mid
April in the
Columbia River and
then we will follow
them into the
tributaries of the
Lewis, Cowlitz and
Willamette till mid
May. Our primary
technique will be
trolling herring in
shallow water in the
Columbia and back
bouncing salmon eggs
in the tributaries.
With the perfect
water conditions and
color this year it
will be lights out
fishing!!!!! I still
have a few scattered
date over the next 3
months left so be
sure to get back to
me right away to get
in on a springer
trip of a lifetime.
It is going to be
great!!! I can't
wait. Feel free to
give me a call to go
over any details. I
look forward to
fishing and talking
to you soon.
Thanks, God Bless

FISHING REPORT &
NEWSLETTER Jan 5,
2010
Hi guys
The winter Steelhead
fishing is HOT!!!
The best I have seen
in many years!!!!
Things have lined up
perfect this season
so far as for the
water levels,
clarity and the
abundance of fish!!!
We are having a lot
of fun catching
these awesome fish.
I would have to say
we should have this
kind of action over
the next few weeks.
So be sure to get
out now for some
winter Steelhead
action!!!! We are
side drifting with
light tackle for
these fish. The
first three photos
are of recent
Steelhead trips.
Also I am happy to
say that we are
going to have a
excellent Spring
Salmon run. You can
look at the
predictions below
from the state. I
know that we have
been disappointed in
recent years but it
looks like they have
taken extra
precautions this
year and left room
for error as well as
still coming up with
almost a half a
million Springer's
back to the Columbia
and 5000-6000 to the
Lewis (which is
awesome) !!!! This
will be a spring
season to remember.
I will expect to
have many days with
limits and high
numbers of fish like
in the last two
salmon photos from
year past. We will
start off fishing in
the Columbia in late
March till late
April. Then move
into the
Lewis,Cowlitz, and
Willamette after
that. So be sure to
book now for prime
dates. Feel free to
give me a call to go
over any details as
well. I look forward
to fishing and
talking to you soon.
Thanks, God Bless

Fishery managers
predict 470,000
Columbia River
spring Chinook in
2010
SALEM, Ore. -- The
technical committee
advising Columbia
River fishery
managers has
released its
forecast for the
2010 spring Chinook
run. If the fish
show up as
projected, the
forecast of 470,000
spring Chinook would
be the largest
return to the
Columbia since 1938.
The forecasted run
is up significantly
from last year’s
final run of 169,300
fish.
Because of
challenges in
forecasting the
spring Chinook
returns in recent
years, members of
the Technical
Advisory Committee
(TAC) had to
reconsider the model
they have used in
past years to
predict the number
of returning fish.
According to Stuart
Ellis, current chair
of the TAC and
fisheries scientist
with the Columbia
River Inter-Tribal
Fish Commission
(CRITFC), committee
members were leery
of the record number
of spring Chinook
“jacks” counted at
Bonneville Dam in
2009. Jacks are
immature, precocious
males that return
after just one or
two years in the
ocean.
In the past few
years, forecasts
relying heavily on
jack counts from the
previous season had
overstated the
actual return of
adult fish by an
average of 45
percent. An accurate
preseason forecast
is necessary to set
commercial and
recreational harvest
levels that meet
treaty obligations
under U.S. v Oregon
and conservation
mandates to protect
fish runs listed
under the federal
Endangered Species
Act.
Ellis said this year
the committee
considered several
additional models
that took into
account other
factors such as
ocean conditions.
“The number of jacks
that returned in
2009 was four times
greater than
anything we’ve seen
before, which made
the number a
statistical
anomaly,” Ellis
said. “At the same
time, we know the
environment for
young salmon appears
to be changing and
we need to account
for that.”
“We’re still
projecting a strong
return for upriver
spring Chinook
salmon next year,
but we needed to
temper last year’s
jack return with
other indicators of
spring Chinook
abundance,” he
added.
The seven models
chosen by TAC
generated a range of
predicted run sizes
from 366,000 to
528,000 adults. The
committee members
agreed on 470,000 as
an average of the
models. This
forecast will now be
used by the managers
to develop preseason
fishing plans. |

Washington
Bonneville Pool
Tributaries
Adult Spring Chinook
2009 Returns and
2010 Forecasts
The 2009 total
return of adult
spring Chinook to
the Washington
Bonneville Pool
tributaries was
slightly less than
the pre-season
forecasts.
A total of 18,500
adult spring Chinook
were predicted to
return to the Wind
and Klickitat rivers
plus Drano Lake in
2009; the actual
return was 16,900.
The three year-old
jack returns to all
three tributaries
were the highest or
second highest since
at least the 1970s.
There have been
challenges in recent
years forecasting
returns to these
areas and several
new models were
explored to predict
Wind River and Drano
Lake returns for
2010.
Unlike most
upriver spring
Chinook returns, the
Klickitat River has
more of a proven
track record and the
Yakama Nation used
standard regression
models for the 2010
forecast.
The 2010
pre-season forecast
for all three areas
is 47,400 adults.
The majority of
the adults returning
in 2010 are expected
to be four
year-olds.
Wind River
2009 actual adult
return was 4,650;
pre-season forecast
6,900.
The 1,200 three
year-old jacks that
returned in 2009
were the second
highest since at
least 1970 (highest
was 1,500 fish in
1971).
The 2010
pre-season forecast
is 14,000 adults.
The 2010 return
would be the largest
since 2003 and over
300% greater than
the recent five year
average.
Drano Lake
2009 actual adult
return was 10,700;
pre-season forecast
9,600.
The 2009 return
was slightly greater
than the recent ten
year average.
The 3,150 three
year-old jacks that
returned in 2009
were the highest
since at least 1970
and 470% greater
than the previous
high of 664 fish in
1976.
The 2010
pre-season forecast
of 28,900 adults
would be the largest
since at least 1970
(largest to date is
17,600 adults in
2002).
Klickitat River
(forecast provided
by the Yakama
Nation)
2009 actual adult
return was 1,500;
pre-season forecast
2,000.
The 2009 return
was slightly less
than the recent five
year average.
The 1,250 three
year-old jacks that
returned in 2009
were the second
highest since at
least 1977 (highest
was 2,900 fish in
1979).
The 2010
pre-season forecast
is 4,500 adults.
The 2010 return
would be the second
largest since at
least 1977 (largest
is 5,250 fish in
1989; however, that
return included
4,100 four year-old
Carson stock adults.
The 2010 return
would be the largest
return of Klickitat
only fish

FISHING REPORT:
10-20-2009
Hi Guys
This fall has really
turned out to be one
to remember!!! There
are so many salmon
in the tributary
rivers it is crazy.
The SW Washington
Rivers have hundreds
of thousands of
surplus hatchery
Coho this year and
they are in some of
the best shape I
have ever seen!!!
These Coho are
CHROME!!!! The fish
are averaging in the
8-10 pound range
with many over 15
pounds with sea lice
as well. Most of
these Coho are being
caught on light
tackle (8lb line)
and freshly cured
salmon eggs for
bait. We hooked over
a dozen fish in 2
1/2 hours today. I
am telling you NOW
is the time to get
out for some Awesome
Coho fishing. We are
still catching some
nice Kings as well.
We have caught two
fish over 50 pounds
this year and many
over forty. One was
51.8 and the other
56!!!! These are the
biggest fish we have
ever put to the
boat. What a
blast!!!! There will
be great salmon
catching opportunity
now till
Thanksgiving. Give
us a call and get
booked while you
can. I look forward
to fishing and
talking to you soon.

Hi Guys
As we head into late
May it is time to
get ready for some
awesome Sturgeon and
Summer Steelhead
fishing!!! The Shad
(a bait fish) have
made there way into
the Columbia River.
The river will be
flooded with
millions of them
before you know it
and the MONSTER
OVERSIZED Sturgeon
are on the bite
NOW!! Oversized
Sturgeon love to eat
Shad. These awesome
fish are 9-12 feet
in length and can
weigh near a
thousand pounds!!!
Let me tell you this
is a fight of a
lifetime for sure. I
would have to say it
is one of the
biggest fish you can
catch in the world.
Oversized Sturgeon
can be over 100
years old. Be sure
to eat your "Wheaties"
for these trips.
Grab a rod and hang
on!!!!!! This is a
limited fishery I
will only be fishing
them till the second
week of June. |
 |
 |
 |
 |
 |
|
|
The
Keeper Sturgeon is off the a
great start as well. If you like
to catch lots of fish this is
the fishery for you. It is
common to have 30-50 fish days
with limits of Keepers
(38"-54")!!! There are fish
being caught now in the Columbia
River Gorge and we will move
down to the lower Columbia River
out of Astoria Oregon in early
June to get into the best Keeper
fishing around. The fish we
catch there fight like crazy and
are fat with fresh bait
(Anchovies-Shrimp) from the
river!!! We mainly fish shallow
water with light tackle and
gear. We will be catching Keeper
Sturgeon till July 4th.
The Summer Steelhead are making
a good show as well. We have
been picking up good numbers of
fish and it will continue to get
better every week as we move
into summer. This is one of my
most favorite fisheries. There
is nothing like hooking into one
of these silver bullets.
Steelhead are the acrobats of
the the Pacific Northwest. We
use the highest in quality gear
and very light tackle. This is
one of those fisheries that you
just know you are going to catch
fish and have a fun day!!!! The
Steelhead have averaged 10
pounds the last couple years and
with the fish we have been
seeing this year it looks like
they will be Big fish again this
year. This is more intimate
fishing on smaller streams. We
will be fishing for Summer
Steelhead now till early
September.
Be sure to book now for prime
dates. Feel free to give me a
call to go over any questions or
details. I look forward to
fishing and talking to you soon.

Hi
Spring Salmon fishing will
be into full swing in the
next couple weeks. There is
over 300,000 fish
on their way!!!
This is the third
highest return since 1938.
So get ready for some
awesome fishing this spring.
I have very few morning
dates left for the season
(Wednesdays- Saturdays) and
peak time afternoon dates
are going fast as well. So
be sure to book Now. You do
not want to miss out on this
awesome fishery!!!
There is still a
Hot Sturgeon bite as well!!
We have had a
great return of Smelt (bait
fish) back to the Cowlitz
River over the last couple
weeks and that has kept the
sturgeon coming in with
aggressive appetites. I
still have a couple of
theses dates left as well
before we swing into
Springer full force. The
season is Thursdays-
Saturdays.

The Department of Fish and
Wildlife just came out
today that a return
of more than one million
Columbia River Coho salmon
- the largest
run since 2001 - is expected
to brighten fishing
prospects this year from the
Washington coast to the
Upper Columbia River. Also a
run of over
500,000 Fall King Salmon!!!
This is going
to be one of the best fall
seasons ever. We will start
this off at the
famous Buoy 10 in
the lower Columbia River and
then follow them up stream
for a second and third shot
at them. Be sure to book Now
to get prime dates.
I
look forward to a
great year of fishing and
good times on the
water with you. Feel free to

Hi
I just wanted to get a quick up
date out there. The Sturgeon
fishing is still really great
with lots of action. There is a
run of Smelt coming in from the
lower Columbia which will keep
the Sturgeon bite active of the
next 2 months. Sturgeon is open
on Thursdays, Fridays and
Saturdays only.
The
2009 run of Spring Salmon for
the Columbia River is going to
be the third largest on record.
That means more fish then last
year and that was a ton of
fish!!!! We limited out almost
everyday. The Spring Salmon are
the best in the world because of
the high oil content and very
rich flavor. This is a fishery
you don’t want to miss out on. I
would have to say it is the
prized fishery of the
Northwest!!! Be sure to get on
the books now to get prime dates
since this is a limited fishery.
Feel free to give me a call or
reply to this email to go over
any details for getting you out
for some awesome fishing!! .I
can also arrange for all your

FISHING REPORT 1-11-2009
Hi
Sturgeon fishing is Hot Right
Now!! With all this high muddy
water and flooding we have had a
ton of fish move into the rivers
and they are on a feeding
frenzy!!!! Now with the water
dropping fishing will even get
better. This last week has
brought Keeper fish for almost
everyone and the fish are really
fat with white bellies (very
fresh fish)!!! We have new rules
for 2009 the days we can fish
are Thursday, Friday and
Saturdays. Keepers are now a
38-inch from tip of nose to the
fork of tail length to 54-inch
fork of tail length. Sturgeon
fishing is a very fun and
relaxing fishery with lots of
action. You catch 30 to 50 fish
most days and get everyone their
Keeper. This time of year it is
not uncommon to hook into a
monster oversized Sturgeon 10+
foot long as well!!! From the
photos below you can see what
you would be looking at catching
and you don’t want to miss out
on this opportunity for some
awesome Sturgeon fishing. I am
also running a discount on the
trips that are booked by
1-14-09. Please feel free to

details and we will get you
booked in. I look forward to

FISHING REPORT 12-1-2008
HI, it is time for the latest
report and outlook. I would like
to start off by saying that 2008
has been another awesome year of
fishing and great times!! I
started it off in February by
becoming a Christian and meeting
the Lord since then things in my
life, family, and business have
been unbelievable!!! I have also
added two full time guys to my
crew. Capitan Mike Sutton and
Captain Justin McCullough have
become a great aspect to the
future of this business. Both of
these guys are fully licensed
Guides and have vast knowledge
of the Northwest waters and
fisheries. Most of you have met
them helping out on trips over
this year. I look forward to
growing the business with these
great guys. They will keep the
same integrity that you would
expect fishing with me
personally.

I have also for your convenience
started an online travel booking
business that will make it
easier for you to book your
rooms and flight for your
fishing trips with us or for
your personal or business
travel. Check out “Columbia
River Travel” at
www.ytbtravel.com/riverrun
we look forward to meeting all
of your fishing and personal
expectations.
With the year coming to an end
we will be finishing 2008 up
with Winter Steelhead and Keeper
Sturgeon. The Winter Steelhead
run has started to make a show
into the Lewis and Cowlitz
rivers. Within the next week we
should see the Steelhead run
head into full swing peaking
somewhere near Christmas and
early January. These Chrome
bright fish will warm you up on
the coolest of days with
smashing bites and multiple
jumps!!! The fish I have seen so
far this season have been BIG
again like last year averaging
11-14 pounds. We will be free
drifting bait and corkies-yarn
with light tackle for these HOT
fish.
The Sturgeon bite has been good
in the Columbia River near the
Gorge and the Willamette is also
putting out some really nice
keeper fish. As the winter water
temps drops off the Sturgeon
will head for the warmer water
and start piling up in the deep
holes. There is a lot of action
on Sturgeon trips. Most days we
hookup with 30+ fish great fun
and good eating!!!
I am also taking booking for
2009 Spring Salmon. The
forecasted run is going to be at
nearly 300,000 fish again in the
Columbia River and with the
crazy amount of Jacks that we
caught last year I would expect
this to be something you can
count on. Late March – April
will be the opportunity for them
in the Columbia then we will
head into the tributaries till
late May. These dates will go
fast so don’t wait!! I book two
thirds of my prime dates for the
whole year by late January.
I also have Gift Certificates
available for Christmas for the
sportsman in the family. You can
book a whole trip or just money
towards the total price. What
ever works for you? I am running
a $20.00 off on all trips booked
for gift cards.
I would like to thank you all
that made it out in 2008 and for
those of you that have not made
it yet we look forward to
hooking up with you. Feel free
to contact me to go over any
question or details. Here are a
few great shots from this year.
Enjoy!!!!

Fishing News
10-30-2008
Hi,
It is time for the latest
update. The rain is finally
here!!!!!!! Yes we are
celebrating rain. It is hard to
believe that here in the
Northwest we are wanting rain.
Our October has been very dry
this year which has kept the
main run of fish from coming in
to Tillamook Bay. With the next
six days forecasted for rain
there should be an awesome push
of fish headed into the bay and
lower bay rivers. These fish are
anxious to come in and will be
very aggressive biters once they
get a taste of the fresh water.
The Tillamook Bay fish are the
biggest salmon in the Northwest
averaging 30-40lbs.Here are a
couple shots from last year you
can see how big and nice these
fish are!!!!!! The rest of this
month will the best time to go
this year with the ideal
conditions coming on now. We
will follow this fish into the
lower Bay Rivers as they move up
also. If you are looking for
some BIG FISH action let me know
and we will get you out for a
great day on the water.
I am also taking bookings for
Winter Steelhead we are
expecting another great run of
fish to the Cowlitz and Lewis
rivers. These silver bullets are
acrobats with many jumps and
flips. A winter Steelhead will
warm you up on the coldest of
days. The main run will be
December and January then we
will have a late run February
and March. We will mainly be
free drifting with light tackle
for them.
I look forward to fishing and
talking to you soon. Feel free
to give me a call to go over any
questions or details.

The
Fall Kings (Chinooks) and Coho
(Silvers) are here!!! We kicked
off the season in mid August
with limits of fish all but one
day at the Buoy 10 fishery on
the lower Columbia River. The
action was some of the best I
have ever seen. The run this
year is near 400,000 fish this
year for Kings and the Fish and
Game department decided
yesterday to upgrade it another
25,000 fish. The dam counts this
year are at record numbers!! The
Coho run has been unbelievable
also. These fish have been
running a 15 pound average and
we have caught many in the 20
pound range. These things are
Tanks!!!
So now with the lower river
closed and the fish on the move
up river we will be catching
them in the main stem Columbia
River through September 16th.
Then move into the tributaries
of the Cowlitz and Lewis Rivers.
We will be catching Kings and
Coho’s pretty much through the
end of the year in these areas.
We will have a detour around
October 10 – early November for
the Hawgs of Tillamook Bay!!!!
These fish are Pigs averaging in
the 30- 40 pound range. They are
only 1hour out of the Pacific
Ocean. This time of year it is
hard to beat these fish. They
are so bright and awesome!!!
So with better then expected
numbers of fish this year and
above average size this fall
will be a great opportunity for
some great hooking action and
god times. Get with me as soon
as possible since remaining
dates are limited. Here are some
great shots of what we are
looking at this year. Enjoy!!! I
look forward to fishing and
talking to you soon.

The Summer Run Steelhead is red
hot!!!!!!!! There is a ton of
fish for this early in the year.
We are hooking up with lots of
fish (5-9) most days and are
getting some really nice fish
this year averaging 10-12
pounds. There are some nice big
fish also like this one in the
upper teens that we caught two
days ago. Let me tell you these
summer run are a hot fish!!!!
They go for long runs and jump
many times. We are using ultra
light gear (G-Loomis 1141) and
free drifting small baits for
these silver bullets. The sun is
finally here and summer runs are
in full swing so for some hot
steelhead action get a hold of
me and we will get you hooked
up. We will be fishing for
summer steelhead now through
late August. Here are a few
photos from last week. Enjoy!! I
look forward to fishing and
talking to you soon. |
 |
 |
|
Also
with these higher river flows
this summer it will give you a
rare opportunity for some great
small stream drift boat fishing.
So if you are looking for a new
drift boat the guys at Three
Rivers Marine are now a Willies
boat as well as an Alumaweld
dealer. I know they have some
great deals up there right now.

Fishing News 1-1-2008

I would like to wish you a Happy New
Year!!! We are kicking 2008 off this
year fishing for winter steelhead.
We are getting good numbers of fish
most days and with the way it is
going we should continue to have a
great winter run through mid March.
From the photos below you can see
that we have purchased a new boat
and look for 2008. It is an
Alumaweld 23ft Three Rivers Marine
model it can comfortably accommodate
6 passengers. Those guys up there
really know what they are doing. The
boat is dialed!!! I highly recommend
that if you are looking for a new
boat or need some work done Three
Rivers Marine will get it done for
you. I have also been running some
keeper sturgeon trips lately and the
fishing is the best I have seen it
for this time of year in a long
time. We even caught a 7footer!!!
What a day.

Ok guys it is time to get
hooked up on these winter steelhead.
Let’s get ready and booked for 2008
Springer’s. The steelhead fishing
has been great most days and these
fish are awesome. We are getting
lots of big fish also. Look at the
18 pound PIG that Shawn caught
yesterday. What a fish!!!! I will be
targeting winter steelhead for the
next couple months till we start
hitting the Springer’s in mid March.
This years run is going to be the
3rd largest on record. So make sure
you get booked before it is too
late. I am really excited about this
up and coming season. We will have a
blast!!! Forget the fishing lets go
catching. I will also be running
some Sturgeon trips in between.
There has been good numbers of fish
already and will increase as the
sturgeon anticipate the Smelt run.
With or with out the Smelt run they
will be very hungry and aggressive
by mid February. Check out the
photos of some recent trips and look
forward to the Springer’s at the
bottom!!!! I will talk to you soon.

We are expecting a record run of
spring Chinooks this year and by the
looks of it we will be hitting it
hot and heavy by late March early
April. The spring fish are the
best!! I have weekday and some
weekend dates still available but
these wont last long. I book 2/3rds
of my prime dates for the year by
the end of January. So get in there
while you can. With the run being
big this year we will most likely be
running double trips during prime
time. We are also geared up for
large groups with multiple boats.
I hope 2008 will bring you an
awesome year and I look forward to
fishing and talking to you soon.

Fishing Report 11-15-2007

It is time to get ready for the Winter
Kings and Steelhead. The rivers have
just come up with this rain and should
be filling with fish as they do. I know
this first push of fish will have a
mixed bag of Kings, Silvers and
Steelhead. This will make for a great
opportunity to get either or all
species. There is nothing like hooking
into a 25lbs plus Winter King or chasing
chrome bright Winter Steelhead up and
down the river. These fish are very
powerful and full of fight to make it up
these rivers under the winter conditions
of faster water and cooler temperatures
while we stay warm and in the comfort of
our new 23ft heated sled. Thanks again
to the crew at Three Rivers Marine for
making it a great experience. We will be
fishing the Winter Kings mid to late
December and start fishing for Steelhead
here after Thanksgiving through
February.
Erik’s World Class Fishing Adventures

Hi, it
is time for the latest update. The the fishing for
the rest of this fall will for the big hawgs of
Tillamook Bay and Winter Kings. These fish are
awesome to say the least!! Most of the fish this
year have been in the high 30 pound class and many
over 40 pounds!!! I am heading down there this week
and we will be catching these fish over the next few
months in to Mid December. Tillamook has just kicked
into gear and will really be fired up with these
resent rains any day. We are expecting a good run of
fish this year. Most of the fishing will be done by
trolling herring or spinners. There is nothing like
hooking a 40 pound king in 8 foot of water and
watching it explode into an awesome fight!! These
fish just go crazy. It is common for them to go for
long runs up to 50 yard with the dorsal fin out of
the water and then turning and charging straight
back to you reeling as fast as you can then back out
for another run. Wow what a blast!!
Feel free to contact me for more info or to book a
great day of fishing and fun. I look forward to
fishing and talking to you soon.
Thanks

The Summer Steelhead run just keeps running and
is getting better as it moves on. It is time to go
NOW!!!! We are getting good numbers of fish
everyday. This has been a typical day. A lot of
these fish have been in the 12 – 13 pound range and
some really nice chrome fresh fish. We will be
hooking the beauties for the next 2 weeks then it is
off to Buoy 10 for some fresh Chinook and Coho
salmon. I have had a few holes open up in my
schedule. So for some great fishing and an awesome
day on the water you can contact me at 360-513-2331.
I look forward to hooking up with you soon.

Fishing Report
July 16th, 2007
It is time
for the latest update. The Steelhead run is really
starting to heat up the last few days. The counts
over Bonneville have doubled and will continue to
grow over the next month. We are free drifting for
Summer Steelhead on the Lewis and Cowlitz Rivers.
The floods from last winter have really changed
these rivers for the better. There are many new
holes. Most of the drifts have really cleaned up as
far as snags and seem to hold more fish!!!! Here is
a photo of a nice Steelhead from last week from the
Cowlitz. The fish are BIG again this year. Most of
them are averaging 10 pounds!!! The way the run has
gone so far this season I anticipate that it will
continue to grow everyday and will last well past
mid August. We were catching good numbers of the
fish into the second week of September last year. |

 |
|
I am also
booking trips for Fall Chinooks and Coho. We will
start catching these beauties in mid to late August.
The Coho run is forecasted to be 30% more them last
year which will make for some great catching
opportunities. They are calling for a good run for
kings also. We will start off catching these fish in
the lower Columbia out of Astoria and then following
them up the Columbia ending up in the Lewis by mid
September. Here is a photo of Bob Loomis with some
nice Chinooks from the Lewis. What a great day!!! I
have some good dates still available for both of
these awesome fisheries. So feel free to contact me
anytime to book a trip or go over any questions you
may have. I look forward to fishing and talking to
you soon.

Hi,
It is time for the
latest report and the fishing schedule for the year. Right now
with the water finally on the drop again we can expect the
winter Steelhead fishing to get into high gear any day!!! We
have been waiting to get onto the Cowlitz to get some action on
the 6 fish limit!! The water condition have not allowed for it
till now. This will be a good fishery through mid February. Then
we will move to the Lewis for some great winter steelhead
fishing. Here is a photo of a 25lb Native that we caught early
march last year!!!! What a Hawg. The guys had this replica made
and man it turned out great. This is truly a fish of a life
time.
With the showing of Smelt in the Columbia and the Cowlitz our
winter Sturgeon fishing will get fired up soon also. This is a
great time to kick back by the heater enjoy a beautiful winter
day and hook into some nice fat fresh winter Sturgeon.
Most of my trips for the year are booked by mid February and
this year it look like the Columbia River spring salmon fishery
will be limited. You will want to make sure you can get into the
first crack at the best fish in the NW and the best dates for
the other awesome fisheries we have here in the NW. As far as
the Schedule for the year it will go like this.
-Winter Steelhead and Sturgeon, January - mid March.
-Spring Salmon, mid March – mid May.
-Oversized and Keeper Sturgeon, mid May – 4th of July.
-Summer run Steelhead, 4th of July – August 10th.
-Fall kings Buoy 10, August 10th – August 31st.
-Fall kings (Upper River bright) September 1st – mid September.
-Lewis River kings, Tillamook Bay, mid September – mid November.
-Winter kings and Steelhead, mid November – December.
I look forward to another great year of fishing with you and
good times. Let me know what dates will work best for you and we
will make it happen for you here are some great shots from
previous trips. Talk to you soon.

FISHING REPORT 11-16-2006
It is time for some “high water kings” Don’t be fooled by this
high dirty water we are having. We put the hurt on these fish
today. Check out the photo of the double. What a killer day!!
All these fish were over 30 pounds and full of fight. This one
here was upper 30 pound class and took us a half mile down
stream. Wow!! What a fight. Last week they up graded the run of
late fall kings (winter king) to 12,000 fish. That will make for
a lot more days of fishing like it was today. This run will last
till Christmas. There is also some winter run steelhead coming
in. We will be in to them heavy soon. I look forward to fishing
and talking to you soon.

FISHING REPORT & UPDATE 11-1-2005
 |
 |
It is time for the latest update. We are
getting good numbers of Chinook Salmon still and with these resent hard
rains the Winter Chinooks and Steelhead will be here any day!! We have
already picked up 3 of the Winter Chinooks this last week and the
hatchery has received a dozen or so Winter Steelhead back to the trap.
This will make for some great action this late fall and into Winter.
Here is a photo of some nice Chinooks we have picked up lately. Nice
fish!! The Winter Chinook are a bigger fish running 25-40 pounds. These
fish are chrome bright also. We will be hooking into them through mid
December. The Steelhead are you typical 9-12 pound fish. Then latter in
the run we get into the big boys 16-20 pounds. These Winter steelhead
are a blast!! We will mainly be free drifting for these.
As far as the Sturgeon fishing goes It has been great also. The photo
here is of a 58 and 59 incher last week. We had another keeper and some
oversized to. It was a great day. Remember sturgeon is only open
Thursdays, Fridays ,and Saturdays. There are a ton of these fish to
catch in the Gorge. So if Sturgeon is the fish for you this will be a
great time to go.
So to book a trip or get more info feel free to contact me anytime.

FISHING REPORT & UPDATE 9-23-2005
It is time for the latest and greatest. This Fall has been good so far
for Chinooks and with the Columbia now closed we will be shifting gears
to the smaller rivers like the Lewis and Oregon coast bays like
Tillamook and Nehalem. The fishing this year should be good in the bays
this year due to rough seas in the ocean this year for the commercial
guys. That means there should be more fish for us!!! If you are looking
to catch one of those 40+ pound Chinooks this will be the place to do
that. We do catch many in that class on the Lewis also. So if you want
to get them a little closer this will be the place for you. We will be
catching these fish through the first week of December.
October 1st the Keeper Sturgeon fishing will open again. Fishing will be
great since the fish have not seen any bait or pressure for months.
There are also some Oversized still around up there to. That can make
for a fun day catching your keepers then finishing the day off with a
nice 10 footer!!! The Columbia will only be open to catch and keep on
Thursdays,Fridays,and Saturdays.
We are also taking booking for Winter Steelhead. We will start fishing
for them in November though December for the first run and the second
run going into March. The Cowlitz will provide us with lots of action for
the yearly fish and if you want to hook into a 20+ the Lewis will be the
place for that in the latter run.
These fisheries will keep us in the fish through the winter and give you
a real variety of fish and places to see here in the Northwest. I would
like to thanks all of you that have been out this year and look forward
to fishing with those new ones that are in upcoming trips. For more info
or if I can help you in planning your trip feel free to contact me and
we will make it happen for you. I am Looking forward to fishing and

FISHING REPORT & UPDATE 6-17-2005
It is time for the latest fishing update. We are officially in to our
summer Steelhead and Sturgeon season. The Steelheading is off to a good
start with a higher return of fish back to the hatchery then last year.
So that should make for a better year then last year. That will be hard
to beat. Many of those days we were done early with our limits of these
chrome bright fish!! The fish that we have been catching lately have
been bigger then the last few years also running 10 - 15 lbs. I do have
some dates available for this and I'm working close with a couple of
other great guides for taking larger groups. This year we will be using
our new G-Loomis 1141 GL-3 rods to catch these acrobats. Let me tell you
what a difference. You can feel more, the fight is more fun then you can
imagine, and we catch more fish. I have updated all our rods to Loomis
and I have to say they are the best!! Here is a photo of a nice catch of
Steelies!!
Sturgeon has been good as well. The trophy fish(7-12 ft) are in full
swing up at Bonneville with multiple fish being caught everyday. Most
days we will start off catching Shad for bait. That is alot of fun!!
There is 10's of thousands of these 2-5 lb fish going over the dam
everyday. Most of the time you can hardly keep them off the line!! So
using light tackle and fishing in shallow water makes for a great way to
catch alot of fish and get you warmed up for the BIG BOYS.
Keeper sized Sturgeon has been very good also. We started off in the
gorge this season, but have changed gears and I am now taking most of
the keeper trips down to the estuary (Astoria). These fish are Fat and
full of power for a great fight!! In the estuary we can keep fish 45 -
60 inches. Here is a photo of some nice keepers from a lately. Great
day!! So to get hooked in to this great fishery let me know and we will
get you in for an awesome time!!
Let's not forget August is right around the corner. That means Big fall
Chinooks!! Last year was phenomenal with limits almost every day. When I
started using the Dees Flashers It really made a huge difference. The
rods that were using them caught twice as many fish. I would Highly
recommend them for salmon of any type or season. We used them this
spring and they even worked there. Dees Flasher Rock!! Check them out at
www.deesflashers.com .
I will start that off at Buoy 10. The first trip will be Aug 10th. We
are going to have another good year. The numbers are said to be a little
down from last year but still very high. Bookings have been filling fast
due to the Lewis and Clark celebration on the coast this year. Heads up.
You will want to make accommodations soon.
I would like to thank all of you that have fished with me for years and
look forward to meeting the new ones I have for up coming trips. My goal
is to provide you with the best fishing experience you can find and do
every thing possible to catch you that fish of a life time.
I would also like to thank Scott at Three Rivers Marine for helping me
with the purchase of the new boat last fall and the continued concern
and support of the staff at Three Rivers Marine. They are the best
Alumaweld dealer around!! You might have to drive the extra miles to get
there but they will go the extra mile for you!! If you are in the market
for a new boat Scott will give you the best and most honest deal around.
You can reach him at 425-415-1575.
I am looking forward to fishing and talking to you soon. If there is
anything I can do to help you plan your trip or answer any questions
feel free to contact me any time. Remember we "Guarantee" fish and we
can accommodate for lodging, car rentals and fish processing also.

It is time for the latest update. There
has started to be a few Springer's caught in the past week or so. It is
still quite early for these. The fishery won't really get going till the
third week of March. I know we all can't wait!! We hooked and released
one on February 11th while we were Steelhead fishing. That is the
earliest yet. As far as dates go for Spring salmon. I am totally booked
for the month of April. I will be running double trip days from mid
April to mid May. I do have some dates available for afternoon trips at
that time or if you want to be on the standby list just let me know. As
far as open dates I have a few in March and May. This is going to be
another great year!!!! Here is a photo of some from last season.
We have still been mainly Steelhead fishing. We are getting some really
nice Natives also(18-20.lbs). I talked to the guy at the Cowlitz
hatchery and he said that they have finally started to get some of the
fish in from the late run of Steelhead. He said it should get good here
in the next week or so and go right into Springer season.
Sturgeon has been fair. We really need the Smelt to show. The Columbia
river temps have been colder then usual again this year which has kept
the bite down a little. But with the river temp on the rise with these
nice warm days we are having and the Smelt coming any day. Things should
get fired up really soon!!
I hope your winter has been going well and I look forward to fishing and

It is time for the latest update.
First thing I would like talk about is the Spring Salmon
season in the Columbia. For those of you that were out there last year
it was some of the best springer fishing I have ever seen!! Easy Limits.
We are expecting close to the same number of fish this year, but the
Bonneville fishery is going to be limited. We will only be able to fish
it 3 days a week!!!! Sundays - Tuesdays. Those days are going fast
on the schedule so get in while you can!! The lower river and the
tributaries will still be open 7 days a week. We will definitely catch
fish there also. It is just hard to beat that Bonneville fishery. As far
as open dates for the lower river and tributaries they are also getting
very full. These photos here are from the lower river last spring. This
was common most days!!
The second run of
winter Steelhead are now in the river and with the water on the drop and
clearing things have started to heat up again. We will be catching
Steelhead well into March. This is when you can get a chance at
one of those 18lb+ fish!!!
The Smelt have
made a show in the lower Columbia and with that and the water temp on
the rise the Sturgeon should be getting into full swing any day. It is
common to catch 30 to 60 fish a day with keepers also. This makes for a
great day with lots of action!!!
I am looking forward to
another great year fishing with you. I do have the new 23ft Alumaweld
now courtesy of Three Rivers Marine and you will be fishing with the
world finest G-Loomis fishing rods. All this new equipment will enhance
your fishing adventure and give the edge over the other boats.

It's time for the latest report.
Steelhead is still the best bet. The "B" run of winter fish has started
to make a show and we have been getting some really nice fresh fish.
This "B" run is going to be the bulk of the fish for the winter run. The
hatcheries have been planting more fish to come back later in the year.
Which as given us a great opportunity to catch these fish in good
numbers all season. Now through February will be your best bet for
hooking into some winter chrome!!! Here is a picture of Robby with two
nice fish from last week.

We will be having a great sturgeon fishery here in the next few weeks
also. Lots of fish and Fun. Don't forget that Springers will be here
with in the next month and a half. I caught my first one last year on
February 14th. These dates go fast so get in while you can. I will be
running double trip days during the peak of the run Mid April-Mid May.
Looking forward to fishing and talking to you soon.
Thanks, Erik Brigham

It's time for the latest update. First I
would like to thank all of you that I fished with this year. It was one
to remember!! To top it off I finished up with purchasing a new 23ft
Alumaweld from Three Rivers Marine. This new boat is unbelievable and
will very comfortably accommodate 6 passengers. I am also now on G-
Loomis' guide program. I will be upgrading my rods as the year goes on.
Here is a picture of one of the first trips out with some nice chrome
winter Chinook!!

We are now into our Winter fishery. That will consist of winter
Steelhead and Sturgeon. Steelhead will be the main catch for now till
the Sturgeon make their move up the Columbia River with the anticipation
of a feeding frenzy on the Smelt. I will be fishing "Free Drifting" for
Steelhead mainly on the Lewis and Cowlitz Rivers. Sturgeon will be in
the Columbia and Willamette Rivers.

I just received some new e-mail software so I plan on doing these
updates more often. Weekly is the plan. Looking forward to fishing and
talking to you soon. I wish you a Happy New Year and many fish for
2005!!
Thanks again, Erik Brigham Erik's World Class Fishing Adventures |

The Winter Chinook run has been very good this year so far. This fishery
is one of the N.W best keep secrets. There isn't many places where you
can catch a 30lbs.Chinook in November or even December. These photos are
some of the fish we have caught in the last week. Can you say chrome?

Some of these fish are so fresh they still
have sea lice on them!!! I will be fishing for these Chinooks in SW
Washington and the Wilson river in Oregon well into December. We are
mainly back-bouncing for these Chinook or Bobber fishing.

Sturgeon has been good also. With most of the fish being caught in the
Gorge area. That reminds me that please remember to dress in lots of
layers and bring raingear. This time of year can be unpredictable for the
weather but fishing is still great.
Dungeness Crabbing Has been very good this year. Most days have had easy
limits and many of these crabs have been 7+ inches. With some being over
8 inches.
There are also a few Winter run Steelhead starting to make a show in
some of the SW Washington rivers. It should be a Great year for them. We
will mainly be Free Drifting for the Silver Bullets.
So there are a few Different options this time of year for fishing fun!!
I will be picking up the new boat by the end of the month. We had to
push it out a little further do to some changes.Three Rivers Had some
awsome suggestions to make it even better for your fishing enjoyment. I
have to say the guys at Three Rivers Marine are great!! Don't forget
with the Holidays right around the corner that we provide Gift
certificates for that for the sportsman in the family.I can mail them
direct to the person to receive it or I can send it to you. Looking
forward to fishing and talking to you soon.
Thanks Erik Brigham

Fishing Report 10-26-2004
This season has been great!! I am now
moving around quit a bit. I am fishing Tillamook Bay, Wilson, Lewis
Rivers for Chinooks and Crabbing trips out of Hammond. Fishing in the
Bay has been good. Nothing like catching one of these monster Tillamook
fish 30 seconds out of the Ocean. They are absolutely beautiful. I have
been mostly trolling herring. Things in the Wilson are off to a go
start. I will be pre fishing there tomorrow. As the rains continue over
the next few weeks the fish will flood the river. I will be back
trolling K-fish, bouncing eggs, and some bobber fishing. It sure is fun
to hook a 35.lbs Chinook in a river not much wider then the boat is
long. HANG ON!! The Lewis is still putting out good numbers of
Chinook and the B-run Coho. Now that the water has came down. There are
a few Winter Chinook also. They will really start kicking in by the end
of the first week of November. These will be the options for Chinook
Salmon for the rest of the year. We will be getting these fish well into
December.
Sturgeon fishing opened October 1st and will run till the end of the
year. You can only keep fish Thursdays-Saturdays. So keep that in mind
when planning your trips. Here is a photo of some nice Keeper Sturgeon.
There is usually a lot of action on these trips. It is not uncommon to
catch 30-60 fish in a day.

Crabbing-Starting this year I am offering Crabbing trips out of Hammond
Oregon. Crabbing can be a real blast!!! We limit on Crabs most days and
send you home with lots of meat. This time of year the Crabs are
Awesome!! They are above average for size this year for what I have
seen. 5 3/4 inches is the minimum size. Most we are keeping have been
over 6 inches. Crabbing will be good till December when the Commercials
go in. I am offering a special for Crabbing trips this year $115.00 per
person with a four person boat minimum. You have to love those sweet
fresh Dungeness!!!

I have all so just purchased a new boat. A
23 ft Alumaweld from Three Rivers Marine in Woodinville. Those guys up
there are the best!!! If you are looking for a new boat of your own or
maybe a used one talk to Scott at 425-415-1575. They will do whatever it
takes to make you purchase a great one and get you in boat that will
work best for you.
With this new boat I will be able to accommodate 6 clients very
comfortably on all of the trips I offer. So don't leave anyone behind!!
On full boat trips I will be offering a special rate of $130.00 per
person on a group of Six. I cant wait to come into a hole with 7 rod
full of my Killer Bait. It's doubles and triples for sure!!! I will send
out a photo with our first catch after the first trip.
I would like to thank all of you that have been out with me this year
and look forward to fishing with you again. If you would go to the web
site
